A Little (Hair) Makeup Never Hurt

Earrings and Necklace: Chloe + Isabel (more details to come)

Back when I was living in Florida I did hair for a number of years. I’m still licensed just not yet in Alabama. Anyway, while doing hair I changed mine all the time because of the easy access to stylists. It never seemed to grow past my shoulders before lopping it all off again, and as for color I always went blonde to brunette and back again, but never did I experience the technicolor hair that’s been quite popular lately. I don’t know if I was afraid or because it just didn’t yet enter the main-stream, so it didn’t feel like my style. Well, now it’s a bit different with everyone from Lauren Conrad to Kate Bosworth experimenting with fun (and temporary) colors. So when the opportunity to try Redken’s new Color Rebel Hair Makeup came my way I thought it would be fun to try something new (and something I knew would wash out). I received the Purple Riot and Rebel Without a Coral colors but went ahead and tried the violet first as you see above.  I knew I wasn’t going to go crazy so I just started taking small chunks and applied the color to the ends. I think I only ended up with 4 on each side which I think was just the right amount for me. If you’re feeling daring you could apply much more, also the more product you apply the deeper the hue, so any brunettes may need more than blondes. I added some highlights a few weeks ago so when I washed my hair the color actually held a bit to the lighter pieces and now it’s a purplish-pink color which I love! I’m definitely going to reuse this and will post pics once I apply the coral. This product will be perfect for Halloween too!

You are so pretty! Okay, I love this idea. I love the idea of being able to highlight/low-light my hair. I have dark hair right now and I think this would work better with lighter hair color. Looks like Blonde is in my near future. 🙂
