DIY – Groomsmen Cigar Gift Box –
Hey guys! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. Today I’m sharing an inexpensive and easy DIY. A friend is getting married and asked for help on what he should get his Groomsmen as a gift for all the help. After perusing Pinterest I saw the idea of making the personalized cigar gift box idea and decided to share with you guys. If any of you are getting married, having a baby or just need an easy idea of what to get the guy in your life than this is for you.
One thing that’s so great about this is you can cater it to the gift recipient’s life and interests. A wooden cigar box would be ideal but like you see here any wooden box will do. What you need:
- Wood box
- Spray paint or wood stain
- Small pine cones
- Cigars (I love the ones here by Havana Honey because they are inexpensive, have multiple great flavors and I love the colors on the wrappers. To sign up for free coupons and to find a retailer near you visit Havana Honeys website here.)
- Multiple small gifts with or without a theme
- Cutout letter stickers for the person’s first or last initial
First things first, if your box is not already decorative like a cigar box it should be sanded smooth before painted or stained. We went with spray paint to incorporate one of the wedding colors, but if it’s not a gift for a Groomsman you may prefer to keep it wood and really manly. After sanding it down I used two coats of silver spray paint. While that was drying I went over my gift choices for this particular box. The one constant is most likely the pine cone decorations and the cigars which are perfect for an occasion when you are really celebrating something (so always?). For this particular gentleman, he’s always hosting parties and has a love of rum and flamingos (don’t ask) so I included a large bottle of one of his favorite liquors, but one of those small bottles would most likely be even better. I also included a leather flask, a bartender’s guide, a fantastic tie and two different flavors of Havana Honeys- Spiced Rum for obvious reasons and Sweet Honey because the color was perfect. The last touch I added was a large cutout stickers of the Groomsman’s initial.
Try to really think about the recipient and what they like, their hobbies, etc. so you can really personalize the gift box. And if everything doesn’t actually fit in the box you can just display it nicely as I did here which is great for an out-of-town wedding it’s the perfect thing to have in their room before they arrive. Just make sure to have extra cigars for celebrating with your friend’s before or after “I Do”!
