Fly Under the Radar and Get Noticed at the Same Time

By Warren B. Seiler III, M.D., Owner and Medical Director at Seiler Skin

Hey guys! I have a special treat for you today. The doctor who did my Vampire Facial, Botox, Lip and Face Injections is here to tell you everything you need to know. And if you are in the area, definitely give him a try. I guarantee you will not regret it! Now I am handing the post over to the amazing Dr. Seiler.

A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to treat Rachel with three of my favorite injectables – Botox Cosmetic (Botox), Juvederm VOLUMA XC (VOLUMA) and Juvederm XC (Juvederm). Earlier this year, she underwent the Vampire Facial here at Seiler Skin, and expressed concern with expression lines on her forehead, age-related volume loss in her cheeks and upper lip and fine lines and wrinkles around her mouth (smile lines). I knew then that in just one visit, a series of cosmetic injections would provide significant improvement for each of her concerns, so I was excited to get her back to my office just a couple of months later.
When Rachel came in to discuss her treatment options, I assured her that we would take a conservative approach during her first time receiving cosmetic injections at my office. She was very vocal from the start that she wanted a natural, beautiful and youthful look – not to have a “frozen face” or look “filled.” This is a common concern among patients who simply want to retain their youthful look and prevent the visible signs of aging, from which none of us are immune. All too often, inexperienced injectors are unable to achieve this because they do not have a deep understanding of anatomy and facial proportions, or know how to evaluate the face as a whole when administering Botox and/or fillers.
injections I have performed injections for over a decade, and train other medical practitioners on advanced injection techniques for Allergan – the manufacturer of Botox and the Juvederm family of fillers – so, please believe that when I say cosmetic injection is an art form, I mean it in earnest. It is extremely upsetting when I see patients who have had too much filler or are sporting an unbalanced, unnatural look due to a failure on the part of the injector. In more extreme cases, I’ve had to use an expensive enzyme to dissolve filler improperly injected by another practitioner, and patients must wait three to four months before attempting injection again. Thankfully, Rachel will not ever experience this issue with me at Seiler Skin!

Once we developed a customized treatment plan specific to Rachel’s concerns, I began by treating her expression lines and crow’s feet, which are wrinkles on the forehead and in the corners of the eyes, respectively. During her evaluation, I paid close attention to the movements she was making with her face and identified affected areas that she didn’t even realize she regularly moved. Repeated muscle movement, over time, causes the formation of these wrinkles and skin laxity. While this is a natural part of the aging process, the good news is that it can be corrected with Botox, which works by relaxing muscle movement, reducing the frequency and severity of line and wrinkle formation. Simple as that. (Trust me – there is a reason Botox is the most popular cosmetic treatment in the world!)

Next, we addressed her concerns about age-related volume loss in her cheeks with VOLUMA, the first and only filler FDA-approved to treat this specific issue. As opposed to other fillers, VOLUMA has a denser, softer consistency that gives long-lasting consistent volume without it appearing or feeling like the patient “had filler” injected. Aside from correcting volume loss, VOLUMA is particularly effective at restoring the “tired and aged” look, and providing a youthful, natural glow. Once Rachel’s results peak about one month after treatment, she can expect them to last from one to two years.
Lastly, I injected Rachel with Juvederm, the best solution on the market for correcting mild to moderate lines, wrinkles and volume loss. Juvederm is an industry and patient-favorite, as it produces very natural-looking results. Like many patients I see, Rachel was concerned about fine lines and wrinkles around her lips and mouth – a very common occurrence among men and women that detracts from a youthful look. Juvederm is also great for subtle lip augmentation and, after treating her fine lines, wrinkles and nasolabial folds, I injected a conservative amount into the corners of her mouth and upper lip to correct some minor thinning. She saw an immediate improvement, and her results will last about one year.

Rachel was the perfect candidate for this series of injectable treatments and wisely decided to address her age-related concerns while they were still in their early stages. She, like many others in her age group, will see significant preventative benefits from a small, cost-effective amount of each of these injectables. The best news of all is that, thanks to my conservative approach, no one will be the wiser to the fact that she had any cosmetic injections, even though she’ll look more youthful, rested and refreshed (unless you are reading this blog, of course!).

Remember – flying under the radar and getting noticed for your beauty do NOT have to be mutually exclusive!
