His and Hers – Maintain a Summer Glow

Maintain a Summer GlowThe official start of the Fall season is just days away. We don’t know about you but we would like to maintain a Summer glow year round. So today we are going to talk about how to do just that as well as show you our before and after pics. Keep reading to see more!

Palm Beach Tan We partnered with Palm Beach Tan on this post and it was extra fun because Chandler is a spray tan virgin (gasp!). While he does prefer a sun-kissed glow over his naturally pale olive skin tone, he would get his tan on in the worst way possible. From that giant yellow orb in the sky. I have finally convinced him on the dangers of laying out in the sun and that spray tanning is the way to go. It’s fun and the results are almost immediate. But since he was popping the proverbial cherry (oh ya, I went there!) I will let Chandler tell you how his “first time” went in his own words:

Hi it’s me, Chandler…the guy you see in a few posts every now and then doing my best not to ruin Rae’s blog.

Those who know me, I feel, would describe me as a person that keeps an open mind, though bashful and unsure at times, I’m willing to try just about anything once…maybe twice. That philosophical approach to life has been a gift and a curse. When the dust has settled after a new adventure, however, I am definitely a creature of habit. As soon as I leave the office I lose the tie, immediately, they don’t even make the trip home. I keep them in my top desk drawer at the office. Tee shirt and jeans guy, and a super wore out pair of Toms that I’m pretty sure I found lying on the beach during one of our get-away’s is an exact description of what I choose to wear everyday.
palm-beach-tan-1 Yes, I happily agreed to work with Rae on this project. I’ve had fun with posts that we’ve collaborated on recently. I will say though, I approached this particular deal with a bit of nervous skepticism. I don’t know a ton of dude’s that spray tan. Scratch that, I’m not sure I know any, outside a few body builders I have known in the past.  I’m secure in my masculinity, and don’t give a deuce what anybody else thinks when it comes to enjoying some of the finer, albeit, more feminine pleasantries that life has to offer. Bring on the mani-pedi’s.  Never tried them, Lord know I could probably use one.

The Sun and I have gotten along pretty well over the years, so I figure, why fix what ain’t broke. Now that I have two mini me’s I have to be smarter about some of the choices I make. Tanning is a no-brainer in my book. There is enough research out there to know that too much Sun is not good. I like to be tan though, always have, ever since I was a wee little guy. Just made me feel more confident. Sounds superficial and it probably is, but something that makes you more confident should never be downplayed. Self esteem is and always will be essential to success in all facets of my life.
Palm Beach Tan My experience at PBT was way, way, way better than I could have anticipated. It started with the girls at the counter. Their customer service totally set the tone. Super warm, friendly, and they knew their products. I had no clue what I was doing and they made it “Chandler” simple. I was taken through every step of the process. I think they could tell I didn’t really feel 100% at ease or in my element so they kind of took the reigns and walked me through it in a way that didn’t make me feel like a dunce. The finished product was really impressive. My favorite part out of the entire experience was getting to do my version of the robot, where I knew nobody was watching. Now I kinda wish someone had because I feel like it was pretty dead on. Now that I’ve been exposed to this great thing, I can maintain a summer glow year round.
palm-beach-tanAlright, I’m (Rachel) back. That was the first time Chandler has written on the blog. What do you think?Love him, hate him?  hope you love him as much as I do and enjoy our his and her posts. Anyway, back to business. Above are my before pics. I definitely let my tan slip away, I look like Casper the friendly ghost! I have always been a fan of spray tanning. As I have gotten older I am more vigilant about wearing sunscreen every day and prefer to get my color the artificial way. So to maintain a Summer glow (or reignite it in my case) we drove five minutes down the road to Palm Beach Tan as it’s the largest tanning company in the nation with over 400 locations. While they have different types of sunless tanning systems we went with the OG, the Mystic Tan. They also have the VersaSpa and VersaPro systems which you can read about here.
palm-beach-tan-giveaway Here are a few things I love about Palm Beach Tan and the Mystic Tan System, (we have not tried the others but when we do we’ll be sure to give you an update). The sheer amount of locations nearly guarantees that you aren’t too far from a PBT. The staff was so amazing and accommodating. Not sure what kind of tan you are looking for? No problem! The incredible thing with the Mystic Tan is how each shade is custom-made. First you select your shade, I went with Magical Medium which is 2-4 shades darker than your skin tone. Next you have the option of adding an accelerator to see color in as little as 2 hours, I skipped this one. Step 3 is choosing your bronzer. There are 4 options and if I am remembering correctly I went with mocha-kissed, with warm, brown undertones. I have enough red in my skin so I passed on Sun-Kissed which has warm, red undertones. This is the one Chandler did since he is olive-skinned. Step 4 is awesome. The one thing a lot of people dislike about sunless tanning, the smell. Mystic Tan has us covered with your choice of 4 different scents so it’s like that new car smell. Just kidding, that is not one of the options, Fresh though is and smells heavenly. Keep scrolling to see our incredible tans. Tans that make sure we will maintain a Summer glow.
palm-beach-tan-spray-tan img_2956 See me above and Chandler below. It truly is amazing how a good tan makes you feel, so much more confident and attractive. We had so much fun shooting these pics because we felt sexy as hell. That my friends is what you can expect when you leave Palm Beach Tan, feeling so confident you feel like you can take on the world. And no nagging worries about your health or that of your skin.
Men's fashion Free People DressHis Style For these shots I made sure to pull out this super hot Free People dress I recently purchased from Belk. I love the shape and material which only added to my confidence, does my head look larger than normal in these photos? My necklace by Ona Chan in which the color matched the glow of my skin was the perfect accessory. Chandler, if you haven’t noticed loves his black v-necks which is cool because I love him in black v-neck t-shirt’s. He looks very casual-cool with his Banana Republic pants rolled up and matching leather accessories. Like I said, we were both looking good. Or it was just in our heads but you know what? That’s okay. If you feel good, you project that feeling into the universe which can only be a good thing. Wow. We are getting pretty deep here talking about clothes and spray tanning.
