Christmas In Florida {Part 1} and Resolutions

necklace: Punky Bunny (won on the blog Everything Hauler), perfume: Dolce & Gabbana the one (c/o)
I hope everyone had a wonderful New Year! Happy 2014! As far as resolutions go I guess I’ll start with the most common, getting in shape. I did really well from January to July of 2013 but once we moved to Birmingham I never got back into the groove. So as of the first I’ve been doing the workout’s provided by the Tone It Up girls, the lovely lady from Blogilates (I even joined the diet bet which you can find here) and Dailyburn. All of which I can do from the comfort of my own home. It’s time to get back in shape since I gained about 10 pounds after the move. (Update, I’m down 5 pounds, 5 more to go!)
Secondly, and this is kind of sad, I love, love Birmingham. This town has so much to offer but as someone who works from home I’ve had a hard time making friends. I love my husband but I really need to get out and meet some like-minded women. If I’m completely honest, I haven’t had any real good girlfriends since I left Wisconsin 11 years ago and it’s starting to drive me a bit crazy. So that’s my second resolution, it’s time to meet some fucking people. (Update, the thing I love about Bham that I never had in PCB is that there are other fashion bloggers here! I’ve met people but have only hung out with another blogger a handful of times, once I met Vanessa with our kids in tow, second, Bertha and I went to a local fashion show, and third I joined a kickball team with Mary and Lindsey. I also recently joined YP Birmingham so hopefully that will help, but what I’m really looking for is a best friend or two. Yes, I know it sounds lame but I have a hard time making friends and it’s even harder when you’re in a new town and everyone already has friends of their own. Is there a book called “The Dummies Guide to Making Friends When You’re New in Town”? If not, there should be!
And last, but not least, I need to up my beauty game. I’m a nail biter (gross, I know) **Update: Still a nail biter but I think by keeping my nails painted it will be harder for me to bite which was also confirmed by Mary (who’s a beauty expert)** Also at night when it’s time to wash my face, I don’t. I use facial wipes and astringent and call it a day. I do use Retin-a at night along with all types of facial creams and serums, eye creams, etc. **Update: Considering Botox. At 30 I already have a few lines especially right between my eyebrows, you know, the 11? So I’ve been researching local places that offer it and i may take the plunge and soon!** I also want a signature scent and I think I found one with Dolce & Gabbana the one. “It’s a warm, oriental floral with modern sensuality”. It really is the essence of luxury. I may not be able to afford their clothing but a perfume I can call my own. According to the perfume’s description:

  • Top Notes: Litchi, Mandarin Orange, Peach, Bergamot
  • Middle Notes: Lily, Plum, Jasmine, Lily-of-the-Valley
  • Base Notes: Amber, Musk, Vanilla, Vetiver

I love this stuff so much I bought one for my mom. It doesn’t hurt that my husband loves it too!

Do you make resolutions? If so I’d love to hear them!

I love your outfit! Although you worn it the beginning of this year I still think it would be prefect for this season Fall-Winter fashion. I bet that perfume smelled simple divine.

I know how you feel about making new friends at a new place. That is how it is with me here in Atlanta. When I moved here from California I didn’t know anyone besides my coworkers for years. I’m just now getting out and meeting new bloggy buddies that has the same common things as me. I hope it has gotten better for you! #ProductReviewParty
