Depending on your budget high-low dressing can mean your high is $100 or $1000. For this post I am doing some high-low dressing of my own. One of my higher priced items being these awesome heels that I designed myself from Shoes of Prey (yet still under $200) and a couple of my lower priced items being items from Tobi (under $50). Here I am styling these heels two different ways with these Tobi pieces and other high-low items.
I am obsessed with red, I have always liked the color on me but for some reason don’t wear it as much as I should. This Tobi dress is so pretty and goes perfect with these black Shoes of Prey heels with white tie detail. Let me tell you a bit about how Shoes of Prey works because it’s pretty damn cool and I am obsessed. Have you ever dreamed about designing your very own pair of shoes and then on top of that stamping them with your signature? Shoes of Prey makes those dreams a reality. Basically you start with one of their many extremely cool options which you can purchase as they are or customize them to make them more you. From the heel type and height (wedge, block, stiletto, etc.) to the material, color, sole, lining, zipper and more are all up to you and your imagination. The shoes I am wearing are called the Basel 100 and I designed them to my liking, my own original design. You can make them flats, or wedges or even snake-skin, gingham, metallic oh my, the endless options! Plus you can personalize them with a custom inscription which with code ‘Rachel’ you can get free! Mine says @tohellinahandbag on the inside, how cool is that? If you scroll to the bottom, there I included a video on how they make your customized shoes.
As for how I did my high-low dressing – in the top photo most of my accessories are on the pricier side (again depending on your budget). There’s the Cult Gaia bag, my Shoes of Prey heels, a Jules Smith choker and Quay sunglasses. But the rest of the outfit is more affordable from my Tobi tank and gingham pants to even my pendent necklace and headband.
In the below outfit I kept things more simple since the red Tobi dress is such a standout piece. It also happens to be one of the lower priced items. This very cool basket bag is also extremely affordable and it’s from a local online boutique called 11th Thread. Both of these pieces are less than $50! My shoes and sunglasses are on the higher side but still under $200. You don’t have to be loaded to consider high-low dressing wearing Prada with Forever 21. That’s definitely not the case. We all have different styles and different price points we like to shop at so I urge you to give it a try!
Before I finish this post I definitely need to tell you about the sunglasses in the below photo. They are by a newer brand called Legacy Eyewear and they make wooden sunglasses, awesome longboards and very cool t-shirts. Plus every pair of sunglasses sold gives an eye exam and a new pair of glasses to a child in need. How amazing is that?!
So what did you think of the video? Tempted to customize your own shoes yet? I know I am going back for more! These boots are calling my name!
