These days, everyone seems to be serious about going all-natural. This is the case in various aspects of our life as well. More people are starting to walk or take public transport so that they can cut down on their driving. The majority of families are also trying to move to an organic diet that features a few meat-free days each week. These are all healthy habits for us, but they are also beneficial for the environment as well. The more we find out just how much our lifestyles are damaging the planet then the more we are willing to lead more natural lives.
However, there is one part of life that not many people know can be turned completely natural. And that’s our beauty routine. Not many women know just how easy it can be to switch to an all-natural beauty routine. From skincare to your makeup, there are lots of products out there that are completely natural and organic. Even better, you will probably already have a few natural ingredients in your home that you can use to start making your own homemade beauty products.
Here are just a few ingredients and their properties that should give you a solid basic background on what to use in your natural beauty routine.
If you follow other beauty blogs, then you will probably have already heard a lot about coconut oil. Coconut oil has been extremely popular with beauty bloggers and vloggers over the past few years, and that is largely because it has some fantastic properties that can be used in many ways. For instance, if you suffer from dry and brittle hair, then you can always rub the oil through your hair and leave it in for around twenty minutes. Once you have washed it out, you should be left with some extremely glossy locks. Not only that, though, but coconut oil is also very beneficial for the skin. You can use it as a moisturizer on the skin, and washing your mouth out with it has been proven to reduce oral bacteria and germs.
Honey has a few natural healing properties so quite a few people use it in their beauty regimen as well as enjoy it in their diet. In fact, people have used it as part of a natural beauty routine for hundreds of years now. One of the best uses of honey is using it as the binding ingredient in homemade face masks. It’s the ingredient that can bring all the others together and get them to stick comfortably on your face. That’s not the only way you can use honey to boost your beauty, though. If you mix it with softened coconut oil, you can make a great DIY face and body wash that should leave you super soft all over.
You might not have charcoal at home already, but it’s easy to find if you want to start using it. Most health food and organic shops will sell it. If you’ve already checked a few DIY face mask recipes, then you will know that it is a popular ingredient in them. Just remember to read this article, “Charcoal Face Masks: Everything You Need To Know Before Trying Them” so that you are fully clued up about how to use it. There are other uses of charcoal in beauty as well. Some people like to use activated charcoal to treat their acne and breakouts with. You might want to also try making your own homemade toothpaste with charcoal, as it is one of the few natural ingredients that can whiten teeth in a healthy way.
Are you sick and tired of getting dark circles around your eyes? These can be ever so annoying but very simple to get rid of. First of all, you might want to try to get more sleep every night as those dark circles are a sign that you are tired. Improving your sleep patterns should sort them right out. However, if you need a quicker fix, you should apply a thin slice of cucumber to each eye. This may sound slightly crazy, but there are some scientific studies that show that this should be very effective on those bags and dark circles. That’s because the cucumbers will add more moisture to the skin, which can help it to plump back up again. Your skin should feel a lot more rejuvenated after fifteen or so minutes, and the dark circles and bags should have pretty much disappeared.
Chamomile tea is a delicious drink that can help you drop off in bed faster than usual, but did you know that it’s also a big help in the beauty department as well. In fact, if you soak some chamomile tea bags in warm water and leave them on your eyes for fifteen minutes, then they will have the same effect as with the cucumbers I mentioned previously. The extra moisture and vitamins should rejuvenate the skin and remove any dark circles. If you ever cut or burn yourself, you can also use chamomile to treat the affected area without having to resort to any artificial drugs.

Apple Cider Vinegar
You might have already used apple cider vinegar to liven up some of your home cooking. But did you also realize that it’s a great addition to your beauty regimen as well? It’s especially beneficial for healthy hair. For many years, this type of vinegar has been used as a successful treatment for dandruff. Lots of people also apply it to their hair before they wash it as it can leave their locks looking smooth and shiny. You don’t have to restrict your use of it to on your head, though. It is also a great way to reduce the appearance of age spots. If you simply dab some vinegar onto the age spots every day, then they will disappear over time. You should also stock up your cupboard with apple cider vinegar over the summer. That’s because it can soothe the skin after sunburn and minimize any long-term damage.
Baking soda might sound like a boring old ingredient but it has far more uses than just in your baking. Just like charcoal, it’s another natural ingredient that can safely whiten your teeth. However, you shouldn’t mix charcoal and baking soda together in a DIY toothpaste – you will need to choose one or the other. One other way to use it is to mix it with some fresh grapefruit juice and olive oil. You can then use this as a face scrub to exfoliate the skin. Just remember not to do this every day or else it will dry out the skin. If your hair is ever greasy just at the roots, you might want to try rubbing baking soda into them rather than washing all your tresses. Once you rinse out the baking soda, your roots should look like they’ve just been washed!
Tea Tree Oil
If you suffer from acne or bad breakouts, then you might want to start incorporating tea tree oil into your routine. You can buy it as an essential oil or will also be able to find a lot of natural skin care products that contain it. The tea tree oil will be gentle on the skin, so it won’t sting too much, but it will get to work on all those nasty pimples and sore spots. Tea tree oil is also a fabulous ingredient to use on your hair if you suffer from bouts of dandruff. Simply wash it through, and you can then say goodbye to those white flakes for a while!
If you want to add another type of DIY face mask to your oeuvre, then you should look up some recipes that include oats. You’ll no doubt already know just how healthy oats are as part of the diet, but they can have miraculous results on the skin as well. For instance, many acne sufferers often report a vast improvement in their skin after applying face masks that contain oats. That’s probably because the high levels of zinc found in the oats can reduce inflammation of the skin. Oats can also exfoliate the skin and will act as a natural moisturizer too.
Another natural ingredient that can greatly reduce inflammation in the skin is shea butter. In fact, it’s benefits are so well-known that you will probably find it in a lot of shop-bought moisturizers already. However, if you can get your hands on some of this butter in its natural form then you will be able to make your own DIY moisturizer for a fraction of the cost. Shea butter is also a fantastic moisturizer as well and can even protect the skin’s natural oils. Many women like to use shea butter to reverse the signs of aging as well. This is because it can smooth out the skin and, therefore, reduce the appearance of wrinkles and age lines.
So, which natural ingredients will you start using?
